Style

As you begin your search for the perfect wedding dress, start by asking yourself what type of bride you see yourself as? Are you on the bohemian side? More contemporary? A country or courthouse bride? We even have a handy little quiz to help you out!

From there, you can begin looking at silhouettes. Ballgown dresses tend to cinch at the waist and create a lot of drama with very full skirts. Mermaid dresses create a more form hugging silhouette that flares out half way down the skirt. A-line dresses are generally considered universally flattering, and shorter dresses can give the illusion of extra long legs! 

Fabric is also important. From silk to lace to tulle to anything you can dream up, each fabric offers its own charm and uniqueness to the gown. Look for details too. Intricate beading or floral embroidery might be found on more bohemian or romantic gowns while open backs and long trains might be more in the romantic style. 

Necklines come in sweetheart, strapless, cap sleeve, high neck, or plunge. They can take a dress from romantic to sleek to high drama. If you’re undecided, there are gowns with convertible necklines so you can have different looks for your ceremony and reception. 

Finally, consider the season! Long sleeves are obviously more appropriate for winter weddings, while beach weddings might call for something a little breezier. There are lots of in between options, too.
